 Jaguar E-type series 1, 4.200 Fixed Head Coupé, guida a sinistra, prodotta il 16 ottobre 1964, giunta il 16 Novembre dello stesso anno negli Stati Uniti dove è stata acquistata dal primo e unico proprietario americano. Importata in Italia nel 1992 dal secondo proprietario che l'ha posseduta fino ad oggi, dopo averla mantenuta in stato di generale conservazione.

 

Si tratta di uno dei primissimi esemplari costruiti con il nuovo motore 4.2 ed il cambio Jaguar (il 155° con guida a sinistra per l'esattezza), ancora nella combinazione cromatica originaria: Opalescent silver grey con interni rossi.

 

Esemplare "matching number" corredato di Certificato Jaguar Heritage, Omologazione ASI e Passaporto FIVA.

 

Durante gli ultimi 26 anni, sono stati eseguiti numerosi lavori di manutenzione ordinaria e straordinaria, documentati per quanto riguarda il motore, la trasmissione, le sospensioni e l’impianto elettrico; la carrozzeria è stata rinfrescata una ventina di anni fa, mentre il pellame e la moquette degli interni sono in parte conservati ed in parte rifatti.

 

Rientrando ancora nella “prima serie” questo esemplare monta ancora i fanali anteriori carenati ed i fanalini posteriori oblunghi montati al di sopra dei paraurti. Il pianale presenta gli "scavi" per i piedi dei passeggeri (a differenza del primissimi "flat floor") mentre il motore è già di seconda generazione, ovvero il 6 cilindri in linea 4.200 in luogo del 3.800, a tutto vantaggio della coppia e dell’elasticità nell’uso: inoltre, per la prima volta venne installato il nuovo cambio Jaguar a 4 rapporti tutti sincronizzati in luogo del cambio “Moss” più duro e antiquato per un’auto del genere; l’impianto frenante è sempre costituito dai quattro freni a disco Dunlop, affiancati nel retrotreno al differenziale autobloccante.

 

A differenza degli esemplari costruiti negli anni successivi per il mercato statunitense, fino al 1965 le auto avevano le medesime specifiche estetiche e meccaniche per tutto il mondo.

 Jaguar E-Type series 1, 4.200 Fixed Head Coupé, left hand drive, produced the 16th October 1964 then delivered the 16th November in the USA when it had been sold to the first and unique owner in the States. In 1992 the car was imported in Italy by the second owner who had the car till nowadays. It is a preserved, unrestored sample which, during the years, was overhauled, serviced and refreshed.

 

It is one of the very first 4.200 E-type with Jaguar gearbox (the 155th LHD sample), still in its original colour combination: Opalescent silver grey with red interior.

During the last 26 years the owner used the car constantly for historic cars meetings, regularity races and long marathons, as well: engine, gearbox, suspensions and electrical system received ordinary and extraordinary maintenance; the paint had been refreshed in the 90’s while the interior partially refurbished and partially original.

 

Being one of the first series samples this E-type still presents the headlight covers and tail-lights mounted over the bumpers. It is not a “flat-floor” (peculiarity of the very first cars) while the engine is the evolution of the 3.800 6 cylinders engine, brought to 4.200 to get more torque and elasticity; the 4.2 litres engine was paired with the new Jaguar gearbox softer and with 4 synchronised speeds, instead of the old “Moss” gearbox. The E-type munts four Dunlop disc brakes together with the limited-slip differential.

 

In spite of the latter E-types built for US market, this car has the same specs of the european cars.
